Tennis clothes have seen many changes over the years. Now they have become a medium for personal expression of individual style and important pieces of equipment in an increasingly physical sport.
A lot of the design of the modern tennis clothes is based on allowing the tennis players to move in a fluid, free motion. Tennis has become a very competitive sport, where every conceivable advantage, no matter how small is taken seriously. Most professional’s tennis players wear synthetic fabrics for their various advantages. For example: Modern tennis clothes are designed to allow athletes to feel unencumbered as they jump, twist, cut, and swing simultaneously in various combinations. Also they are lightweight and don't hold moisture. This also helps keep the tennis players dry and cool.
I think clothes can play an important paper. I think that it may be more visible in swimming with the 'special' swimming suits, it has been proved that the swimmer gains time (check speedo for more information).
ResponderEliminarYou are right, tennis cloth has changed a lot during the last years. Now its more about feeling the "free motion" that you mention and also the dry and cool factor is so important. A tennis match can last more than 2 hours and using cloth that will make you feel wet and heavy is not ideal for tennis.
ResponderEliminarBut does the tennis shirt vary that much from let’s say a shirt a long distance biker would use? Well the models probably differ, but do the fabrics do that too or are they more or less the same? That biker also carries out the sport during a long amount of time and moreover has to avoid the moist if wanting the best performance, resulting in similar conditions as the tennis player, except for that the biker moves its upper part of the body and arms much less than a tennis player…
